Letters on the Windowpane

Nora loved rainy days. The way droplets slid down glass as if they carried messages from the sky, the gentle rhythm tapping on rooftops, the quiet hum that made everything feel smaller and safer. She spent her mornings in the little coffee shop at the corner of Willow Street, watching the rain and scribbling notes in her worn notebook.

One morning as she sipped her latte and wrote about ordinary miracles a message appeared on the windowpane outside. It was written in the condensation from the rain, in neat handwriting that made her stop mid sentence.

Hi I am sorry to intrude. Can we talk

She blinked. Who would write on a window She looked around the street. No one was there. Curious and slightly amused she opened the door and stepped outside.

A man was standing under a shared awning from the neighboring shop. He had dark hair slightly damp from the rain a mischievous smile and eyes that seemed to laugh before he even spoke.

I wrote the message he said grinning. I noticed you come here often write things and look thoughtful. Thought it might be interesting to introduce myself.

Nora laughed. That is one way to do it. I am Nora.

We can call this fate or coincidence he replied. My name is Ethan.

Nora hesitated heart racing but the curiosity and trust she had grown in those mornings overpowered doubt. She arrived at the coffee shop just as the sun dipped below the rooftops. Ethan was there waiting holding a small envelope.

Open it he said softly.

Inside was a letter written in the same neat handwriting as the window messages. It spoke of admiration friendship the subtle beginnings of love and a hope that they could explore it together. Nora smiled through tears. She had never received a letter like this in her life.
